Summary / When to Use This
Task visibility settings let you decide how much your customers see in the portal. This is especially helpful when you want to track internal work without exposing sensitive details—or when you want customers to know something is in progress, but not the full details.
Steps to Follow
1. Open the Task
Go to your Project.
Click into the Task you want to adjust.
Open the Settings tab inside the task.
2. Locate the Visibility Field
In the Settings tab, find the field called Visibility.
This field only appears when the task type is set to Internal.
3. Choose a Visibility Option
You’ll see two options:
{Your company name} Only
The task is hidden from the customer portal.
Customers won’t see it at all.
Best for purely internal work you don’t want to share.
Task Details Restricted
The task itself is visible in the customer portal.
The details and subtasks inside the task remain hidden.
Best when you want to show customers that something is happening, but keep sensitive internal steps private.
4. Save Your Changes
After selecting your visibility setting, click Save to apply.
Tips & Troubleshooting
Don’t see the option? Make sure your task type is set to Internal—visibility settings only apply there.
Customer perspective check: You can preview the customer portal under the Portal tab in your project to confirm how the task appears.
Best practice: Use Task Details Restricted when customers should be aware of a milestone, but not the behind-the-scenes work.
