Summary / When to Use This

Tasks are the building blocks of every project in OnRamp. Assigning them correctly keeps everyone clear on responsibilities, while managing and completing tasks ensures your projects stay on track. Use this guide to learn how to assign tasks, manage task settings, and complete your work efficiently.

Steps to Follow

1. Assign Tasks

  • Tasks can be assigned to either someone from your organization or a customer user.

  • In the Assignee column, choose who will complete the task.

  • For customer tasks, you can Assign it to a specific customer user (that person will be notified by email).

2. View Your Assigned Tasks

  • Go to your Dashboard to see all tasks assigned to you across projects.

  • Click any task to jump directly into the project and open it.

  • Inside a project’s list view, hover over a task and click Work on Task to begin.

  • This opens the task details, where you can work through any subtasks or workflows.

3. Manage Task Settings

Hover over a task and click the Settings (gear) icon for more options:

  • Data Fields – Add or view custom information tied to the task.

  • Dependencies – Control which tasks must be finished before this one begins.

  • Timeline View – See a detailed history of activity by your team and customers.

  • Visibility Settings – Control who can view or complete the task.

  • Sequential Subtasks – Enforce that subtasks must be completed in order.

  • Task Feedback – Enable collection of task-specific feedback.

4. Complete Tasks

  • To finish your task, open it and complete all required subtasks.

  • Once the task is complete, it will automatically update in the project view.

  • Tasks assigned to customers are marked complete once the customer submits their work.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • If you don’t see the option to assign a task to a customer user, make sure the project has a customer organization linked in Project Settings.

  • Use dependencies to prevent tasks from being completed too early.

  • Remember: completing tasks promptly keeps your Project Health and Engagement metrics accurate.
