Summary / When to Use This

If you try to add a customer user to a project and see the error “User Already Exists,” it means that email address is already in OnRamp under a different account. Instead of creating a duplicate, you can link the existing user through Account Affiliations.

This ensures the same person can participate in projects across multiple accounts without needing multiple logins.

Steps to Follow

  1. Open the Project Settings

    • From the project, click the Settings tab.

  2. Add an Affiliated Account

    • Under the Account section, click Add Affiliated Account.

    • Use the search bar to find and select the account where the user already exists.

    • The account will now appear as affiliated with this project.

  3. Invite the User

    • Go to the Members menu in the top right of the project.

    • Click + Add Customer User.

    • In the account dropdown, choose either the project’s primary account or the affiliated account.

    • Select the existing user from the affiliated account.

  4. Confirm and Save

    • The user will now be added to the project without needing a new login.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Why can’t I just create a new user?
Each email can only have one OnRamp login. Affiliations let a single user belong to multiple accounts.

  • Can I affiliate more than one account?
Yes. A project can be affiliated with multiple accounts if needed.

  • Still can’t find the user?
Double-check spelling in the email search, or confirm that the user was invited under the other account.
