Importing Previous Answers Into a Project

Instead of manually re-entering data you’ve already collected, you can import answers from another project directly into your current one. From the Responses page, OnRamp finds matching questions across projects, pre-fills what it can, and lets you decide what to do with the rest.

Where to Find It

Open the Responses page for any project and select Import Previous Answers.

Choosing a Source Project

• By default, OnRamp only surfaces projects associated with the same account or its affiliated accounts as recommended sources.

• You can search for and select a different project if the one you need isn’t in that list.

How Matches Are Sorted

Once you select a source project, OnRamp sorts every question into one of three groups:

• Exact matches — identical questions, with the answer pre-selected and ready to fill in.

• Suggested matches — similar but not identical questions; you choose whether to add each one.

• No match — questions with nothing to import from the source project.

For example, one import found 20 exact matches, 2 suggested matches, and 4 with no match. A field won’t be selectable if it was never filled in on the source project.

Applying the Import

• Task status — decide what happens to each imported task: mark it complete, or leave it open so someone can confirm it via Save and Continue or Complete Task.

• Immediate effect — once you apply the import, the data takes effect right away — answers are filled in and any tasks you marked complete are closed out.

• Everywhere it matters — updates show up across the project, including the Responses page and the List view.

Who Can Use This

Import Previous Answers is available from the Responses page of any project. It is accessible to all users other than Contributors.
