CRM update failed: integration user can't edit the field

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Applies to: Super Admins, Creators, and Integrators, with Salesforce or HubSpot connected

Project automations are available when they're turned on for your organization. If you don't see an Automations tab on your projects, contact your OnRamp team.

Salesforce or HubSpot turned this update down because of access. In the project's Logs, the Update Salesforce Field or Update Hubspot Field row has an X in Success. The message in Error comes from your CRM. It says a field can't be created or updated, or that the user doesn't have enough access. Payload shows the record and every field OnRamp tried to send.

Why it happens

OnRamp updates your CRM as the integration user: the Salesforce or HubSpot user who approved the connection. If that user can't edit a field OnRamp sends, or can't edit the record, your CRM rejects the update.

Fix it

  1. In Logs, select View in the Error column. Note the fields the message mentions, and find them in Payload.
  2. Go to Settings > Integrations+.
  3. Select your Salesforce or HubSpot integration. Its Details tab opens.
  4. Find the name next to User:. That's the integration user.
  5. In Salesforce or HubSpot, give the integration user edit access to those fields and to the record.
  6. Repeat the event on the project. Then, in Logs, select Refresh to see the new row.

If OnRamp doesn't need to update a field, you can remove it instead. In the automation's Update Salesforce field or Update Hubspot field step, remove the field's row under Map fields to update, and then select Save.

If your Salesforce integration's page shows Run Diagnostics, Super Admins and Integrators can use it to check the integration user's access. See Run the Salesforce Diagnostic Tool.

Still stuck?

Contact support with the project's name and link, the row's Timestamp, the text from Error and Payload, and the name shown next to User:.
