Understanding AI in OnRamp

Last updated: August 18, 2026

This article explains where AI appears in OnRamp, how each experience is scoped, and what users should know about review, permissions, and data privacy.

Note: Availability can vary by role, permissions, page, and organization settings.

Where Aero Is Available

Aero appears in several purpose-built experiences across OnRamp:

  • Ask Aero: A global AI companion available from OnRamp pages. Use it to ask questions about projects, tasks, comments, resources, people, statuses, and other OnRamp data, or to start work such as building and editing playbooks.

  • Aero Project Briefs and Actions: Generate project summaries, identify next steps, and take suggested actions from project context.

  • Aero for playbooks: Create new playbooks from a prompt, outline, or supported file, and make human-reviewed edits to existing playbooks.

  • Aero for Views: Build and edit Views using natural language, including filters, columns, grouping, sorting, and visibility settings.

  • Ask Aero in Insights: Ask questions about Insights data and get explanations grounded in the chart or report context you are viewing.

Where OnRamp AI Is Available

Organizations can choose to enable OnRamp AI in the customer portal and customize its settings:

  • Customer Portal AI: When enabled, customers can use OnRamp AI in the portal to ask project-related questions and get guided help based on the content and permissions available to them.

How Page Context Works

Ask Aero uses the page you are on to interpret your request. For example, a question asked from a project, View, Insights page, or playbook editor may use that page as context. Page context helps Aero understand what “this,” “these tasks,” or “this view” refers to, but it does not expand the data a user is allowed to access.

Review and Validation

AI-generated outputs are informational and should be reviewed before they are used for customer-facing communication, executive reporting, or operational decisions. For changes that affect configuration or content, OnRamp uses human-reviewed drafts or suggestions where applicable.

Data Security & Privacy

  • Permission-aware: OnRamp's AI features respect the access controls and permissions already configured in OnRamp.

  • No third-party training: Your organization’s data is not used to train third-party AI models.

  • Use the right source of truth: For detailed behavior, see the dedicated articles for Ask Aero, Aero playbook editing, Aero View editing, Ask Aero in Insights, and OnRamp AI on the customer portal.

Quick FAQ

  • Is Ask Aero the same as every OnRamp AI feature? No. Ask Aero is the global AI companion, while other AI experiences are scoped to specific areas such as playbooks, Views, Insights, and the customer portal.

  • Can AI make changes automatically? Some workflows prepare drafts or suggestions for a user to review before changes are saved or published.

  • Does page context change what data users can access? No. Page context helps Aero understand the request, but permissions still control what data is available.

  • Where can I learn more? See the OnRamp Aero collection.
