Common Questions

Answers to the things people ask most often about time tracking.

Do timesheets need approving?

No. People submit their own week and it locks at that point. If a submitted week needs correcting, somebody with permission reopens it and its owner makes the change.

Can I track billable hours and rates?

Time tracking records hours rather than money, so there are no rates and no invoicing. If you bill from these hours, export them as CSV or XLSX and apply your rates wherever you raise invoices.

Is there a start and stop timer?

You type durations instead, in whatever form is natural — 1:30, 90m and 1.5 all work. You can also fill in a whole week from a spreadsheet.

Can somebody log a half day off?

Time off is recorded in whole days. For a partial day, log the hours you worked and leave the rest of the day empty.

Can a manager correct somebody's hours for them?

Entries stay with the person who logged them, so they make the correction. If the week is already submitted, reopen it and they can edit it. Everybody's hours stay their own record.

Can I turn time tracking on for a few projects first?

It applies to every project, which is what keeps project and account totals complete. To roll it out gradually, use the per-person Submits time setting to choose who keeps a timesheet to begin with.
