How Task Statuses Work

Task statuses in OnRamp give you an instant read on where work stands without anyone having to manually update anything.

The Four Task Statuses

Not Started

A task shows Not Started when none of its subtasks have been worked on yet.

In Progress

A task moves to In Progress when at least one subtask has been started but the overall task is not complete yet.

Finished

A task is marked Finished when all subtasks are completed — including any required subtasks — or when an internal user manually marks it complete. If a required subtask is still unanswered, the task cannot move to Finished, manually or otherwise, until that subtask is completed.

Blocked

A task shows Blocked when it depends on another task that has not been completed yet. Once resolved, the status updates automatically.

Tips

• Statuses are automatic. OnRamp updates them as work happens.

• If a task is stuck on Blocked, check its dependencies to find what is holding it up.

• Subtasks are the primary driver. If a task seems stuck and won't move to Finished, check for an unanswered required subtask first — OnRamp will name the outstanding subtask(s) when completion is blocked.
