Configure Self-Service Registration for Your Customers
Last updated: March 27, 2026
With self-service registration, customers can sign up on their own — no waiting for your team to create a project and send an invite. Anyone with an approved email domain can create an account, log into the portal, and start a project from any Playbook you’ve enabled for self-service.
Step 1: Enable Self-Service for a Customer Organization
Go to Customers from the sidebar.
Open an existing customer organization, or click + Create Customer.
Scroll to Portal Settings.
Toggle Allow Self-Service Registration to On.
In Permitted Root Domains, enter the email domains you want to allow (e.g.
example.com). Press Enter after each domain.Click Save.
Any user with an email from the allowed domains can now create their own account.
Step 2: Make a Playbook Available for Self-Service
Open the Playbook you want customers to be able to start.
Go to the Portal tab and click Settings.
Under Self-Service Settings, toggle to On.
Fill in:
Default Project Owner — who gets assigned as owner when a project is created
Customer Facing Name — how the Playbook appears in the portal
Customer Facing Description — a short description for the customer
Portal Cover Image — upload or paste a hosted image link
Save your changes.
The Playbook now appears as an option for self-serve customers in the portal.
The Customer Experience
Customer visits your portal and enters their name and email.
If their domain is permitted, they can create an account.
They receive a invite email for verification.
After authenticating, they see the available self-service Playbooks and can start a new project.
Customers can only access projects they create themselves, or ones your team explicitly invites them to.
Tips & Troubleshooting
Domain not working? Double-check for typos and confirm the domain was saved.
Customer doesn’t see a Playbook? Make sure that Playbook’s Self-Service Settings are enabled.
Security reminder: Only add trusted domains — anyone with access to that domain can register.
