OnRamp's Gantt view is a great way to set up, visualize, and manage your tasks during a project. It can be accessed by selecting a project > Gantt tab.

Gantt tab overview

The Gantt view has two main sections:

  • The left-hand-side table is a list of all the tasks on a project. Clicking on a task will take you to to that task on the timeline on the right.

Pro tip: Collapsing modules in the table will hide that module on the timeline view. Use this to hide modules you are not involved in or to focus in on a given section(s).
  • The timeline view on the right shows all of the tasks and modules on a timeline. Clicking on a task here will allow you to edit or complete it.

Creating and Managing Tasks

Gantt view makes it easy to create, update and manage tasks.

To add a new task:

  • Click the "+" button on the left-hand-side table to add a new module or task to a project

To update task dates:

  • Using Gantt view, updating task timelines is incredibly easy.

You have two options:

  1. Click and drag either to beginning or end of a task to adjust the start or end date of that task

  2. Click in the middle of a task to drag the entire task dates forward or backward

Pro tip: You may want to turn off task due date change notifications in the Project's Settings tab if you are planning on updating a bunch of task dates.

To update the entire project timeline and tasks en masse, go to Project's settings and adjust the Project's End Date. Doing so will not trigger individual task notifications.

Customizing what task details are shown:

  • You can customize what is shown on the Gantt view. Add columns to the left-hand-side table to show the most relevant information to you

Completing tasks:

  • Click a task to pull up all task details and complete the task

What the colors mean:

  • The inside bar of a task indicates whether or not the task has started, as does the first dot to the right of the task

    • A gray task indicates the task has not started

    • A yellow task indicated the task is In Progress

    • A green task indicates the task has been completed

  • A red dot to the right of the task indicates the task is overdue

Adding and Managing Dependencies

Gantt makes it easy to both visualize as well as add dependencies that may be required for your project. Dependencies are representing by a gray arrow connecting task(s) together.

Add a dependency to a task by hovering your mouse at the beginning or end of a task until the dependency indicator appears. Click and drag to the task you want to add a dependency to to create a new dependency arrow.

When dragging tasks around that contain dependencies, you can adjust the rules that govern these movements on the upper right hand side of the Gantt view.
