Adding Tasks & Workflows

OnRamp has a mighty task and workflow builder (called "Subtasks") that allows you to create step-by-step instructions for that task- even building in logic where needed.

Create a basic task

There are a number of places in the UI to create a task. Tasks live under Modules.

Create a new task by hovering over a module and clicking the [+] button. The only required fields for a task are Name and Assignee.

How to create a workflow within a task

Whether you're in a Playbook, Module, or Project, you can create Subtasks and Workflows by clicking the icon in the Subtasks column.

This will open the Subtask and Workflow builder.

To add subtasks, click the (+) and select a step type from the pop-up menu. The right-hand popout that appears allows you to configure and delete subtasks.

Available Step Types

OnRamp has several elements available to choose from, including:

  • Single choice (radio)

  • Multi-Choice (checkboxes)

  • Dropdown

  • Yes/No question

  • Text Answers - short and long

  • File Share

  • File Request

  • Date

  • DateTime

  • Text Instructions: A rich text editor that allows you to embed a more robust set of instructions or comments along with the task

  • Share a Video: Paste a YouTube URL or upload a video into the task workflow for easy viewing.

  • Embeddable: Embed any URL or HTML embed code

  • Adobe ESign: create and sign documents (if Adobe Sign integration is configured)

Logic

Yes/No, Dropdown, and Multiple-Choice (Single Answer) step types have the added ability to create logic flows. This allows project members to see a different series of subtasks (or skip some entirely) if they answer "Yes" to a question vs. "No," for example.

If you add one of these step types, logic branching will automatically appear in view.

If you wish to add logic, click the (+) on the specific branch you want to add logic to.

If you don't want to add logic, you can just ignore the branches and continue the task workflow at the bottom.

Logic can go multiple branches deep, allowing for meaningful flexibility and powerful task customization.

Other Task Features

  • A description that appears before the user starts a task

  • Dependencies to link tasks together

  • Visibility: Choose whether or not the task appears on the customer portal

  • If workflow is present, choose whether or not the steps must be completed in order or not

  • Select whether or not feedback (thumbs up or down) for the task is asked after task completion on the customer portal

  • Add custom fields and data to tasks via Data Fields
